bing In the past, I’ve shared several tips and tricks you can use to grab the background from the Bing.com search engine’s homepage for use as your desktop wallpaper. These included step-by-step instructions for locating the image’s URL as well as how to access an online repository hosted in SkyDrive where Bing images are stored. But now there’s even an easier way to get Bing’s images thanks to a new program called Bing Downloader.

With this app, built on the .NET Framework 3.5 and hosted on Codeplex, all you have to do is run an executable to automate the process of downloading that day’s image to your PC. The program is very basic – there are no settings, configurations, or tweaks to make. Upon first run, it will create a folder called “BingImages” in the same folder where you’ve saved the .exe file. After running the app, the current day’s image is displayed and a copy is placed into the BingImages folder. You can then “X” out of the program and set that photo as a background as you would any other image saved on your PC.
