Pando to Power NBC’s New Video Service
March 3rd, 2008 | Published in Software, TV, Video
NBC Direct, the network’s TV download service has just announced that high-resolution videos will be made available via Pando. The P2P Pando client software uses peer-to-peer (P2P) technology to spread out file transfers over many people’s bandwidth in order to send and receive files over the web. This new move by NBC Direct is a clear case-in-point about how P2P in and of itself is not inherently evil, as many would have you believe - there are perfectly legal and legitimate uses for the technology! The agreement is still being finalized, but we should see this "enhanced" version of NBC Direct sometime in the first quarter of this year. The NBC shows available via the Direct service include 30 Rock, The Office, Heroes, My Name is Earl, Medium, American Gladiators, Celebrity Apprentice, Friday Night Lights, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
