Buddy Fetch Helps You Find New Friends

buddyfetch In case your social networks aren’t already overloaded with a bunch of people you don’t know, you can now locate a bunch of other unsuspecting victims to send your friend requests to using a site called Buddy Fetch. With this service, you can enter in a keyword, hobby, or interest into the search box and Buddy Fetch will search for matches from the following networks: AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, Skype, Paltalk, Myspace, OKCupid, IMVU, HOT or NOT, NETLOG, Tagged, Black Planet, MocoSpace, WAYN, Zwinky, eSPIN-the-Bottle, YouTube, Hi-5, Stumble Upon, Book Of Matches, Plenty of Fish, LavaPlace, Consummating, and Facebook.

While I do like the fact that this works, in a sense, like a central directory for many networks, (well, minus big players like MySpace and Bebo), it’s not really helping you find "your" friends, just a bunch of random people you don’t really know. For locating people you might actually want to add, a service like upscoop is actually more useful, as it uses your email address book to scour social networks for your friends. (More info on upscoop is here.)
