BillQ: Track Your Bills Online
billQ.com is a web service that lets you track your bills, receive reminders before they are due, and “make sense” of them once they have been paid. The website is designed to be simple to use, which can either be a big plus for you, if you want a no-frills app, or, if you need more robust financial software, you might find billQ lacking features. However, for what it’s designed to do - organize your bills and remind you to pay them, I think it does very well. In any case, it certainly beats that Excel spreadsheet I’ve been using! For people who share bills (like roommates), there’s a great feature that lets you enter the bills and have them automatically split up and organized online. Once bills have been entered into billQ, reminders can then be configured to be sent out via SMS or email. The reminders can also be changed or customized for individual bills. After the bills are paid, you can view pie charts and graphs to see where and how your money is being spent. There are currently two versions of billQ - a free version and a paid one. The free version is ad-supported and lets you create up to 10 schedules (recurring bills). Only the past 3 months of bill paying is reported in the free version, so, if you need to view your entire payment history, the extra $5/month (or $50/year) for that feature may be worth it.

Hey Sarah,
Thanks for the write-up. You hit the nail on the head. billQ isn’t trying to be some magical personal finance service, it aims to be a simple tool. Basically, if you have trouble keeping track of bills, than billQ can help.
But that being said, we aren’t going to sit still. We have some plans to refine billQ and make it even more useful, so stay tuned. And we certainly welcome any suggestions.
Thanks again,
Nick
