Google “Shared Stuff”
![]()
Google has introduced a new service called "Shared Stuff," and basically, it’s "Google Does Del.icio.us." To use Shared Stuff, you just drag this "email/ share" button to your bookmarks toolbar, then click it when you are on a page you want to add to your Shared Stuff profile. Your Shared Stuff can be viewed either on your profile, on your iGoogle page, or via an RSS feed. A nice feature of Google’s Shared Stuff is its ability to post your items to Facebook, Furl, del.icio.us, Social Poster, Reddit, and Digg. That means I can continue to post links to my del.icio.us using this service, which is nice, but maybe a little redundant. Like Siphs or Tumblr, Shared Stuff will provide you with a link blog while offering the ability for others to comment on your posted links. Anyone in your Gmail contacts who is already using the service will already be your "friend" on the service; that may infuriate some, but I’m grateful for any integration that saves me from having to "friend" people. As far as how useful the service will be…? I liked the idea Guillameb had for using his Shared Stuff - he added links to his resume, social networking profile, and his blog. Nice! I’m totally going to copy that. However, I did notice one strange thing about the service & that is regarding the image thumbnails that are posted next to your link - they are not image thumbnails of the site itself, but rather a thumbnail of one of the images on that particular webpage. So in my case, my blog link has a tiny advertisement for one of my blog sponsors…I hope that gets corrected in the future!
