Weird Google Results Page

Sarah Perez on August 28th, 2007

Can someone explain this? I accidentally googled a phrase today, but instead of starting it with a double quote, I accidentally used a single quote. The results page showed my results, but the Google search box was missing. Also, when I clicked on "more," the text came up all garbled. To see if it was just a fluke, I tried it again with the word "test," and got the same results (see below.)  What’s up with that? Click the picture for a larger screenshot:

  1. I did not have the same result in FF just now

  2. I was using IE7 at the time…hmmm

  3. I don’t know WHY it’s happening but I am getting the same result as you, Sarah. hmmmmmmm…..

  4. Gee Sarah, I’m using FF and I tried it and I got no error. However I have seen errors like that usually when I have my browser cut down (sized) to smaller than my full resolution and when I maximize this type of thing usually goes away. The other times I see this type of error it usually involves a java script error or one level of js that I haven’t turned on while using ‘No Script’. Sometimes I think it may be a corruption or bad coding in the addon–they seem to update it a lot. And these things come and go. (NO, I won’t try it in Internet Exploder!) And, lastly, I just tried it in Gecko and no error. You might consider updating No Script if you use it and also run a good registry clean…I use 5 cleaners at a time–every day during cleanup and defrag operation—then I reboot. Hope this helps. regards…j

  5. IE 6 - WinXP Pro, SP2
    No problems
no problems in Firefox 2.0.0.6 either
