CatCam!

Ever wonder what your pets do all day while you slave away at work? Well, someone wondered enough to wire up their cat with a cam. For a good five minutes of your life that you’ll never get back, veg out and watch life through a cat’s eyes at the Mr. Lee CatCam website. Mr. Lee’s adventures of an outside cat are documented via a small camera he wears around his neck. Still photos are uploaded to pages featuring the best pictures of the day. I doubt my dogs are half as interesting. I’m convinced that all they do is sleep until we get home.

PointSmartClickSafe: Where Parents Can Learn to be Web-Savvy

PointSmartClickSafe is a site initiated by the cable industry where parents can learn about online safety and appropriate use of the internet by children. The site is full of information, tools, and resources to help parents keep their kids safe online. The site focuses on three key areas of understanding: 1) Control, including parental control software; 2) Education, especially media literacy; and 3) Choice, how to teach children to make the right choices online. The site uses a clever flash animation to make it seem as if you are flipping through the pages of a book as it addresses these topics. Links and videos are found throughout the virtual book’s pages along with the information.
OK, the videos are as hokey as any after-school special, maybe even worse. That being said, the site is a good resource for anyone who feels as if their children know so much more about those new-fangled computers that there isn’t anything that they, as a parent, can teach their kids about them.
As web-savvy blog readers and RSS subscribers, it’s the kind of site we should pass along to our less savvy friends and relatives.
