Bebo the next MySpace?
![]()
San Francisco-based social network Bebo has just announced a deal with Apple to sell iTunes songs directly to its users and visitors. Unfortunately, this will only be available to UK and Ireland Bebo users for now, hopefully expanding to Bebo’s 30+ million users later on. The iTunes tracks will be for sale on the Bebo pages of registered bands with links taking users to the iTunes store to download their purchases. Bebo will also be offering a free download weekly to promote new artists. As you may recall, music is what made MySpace really take off. Before MySpace was filled with scammers, spammers, and deviants, as it is today, it was a popular site where fans and musicians could connect; bands offered free downloads and friends spread the word about their favorite new bands by friending them and adding songs to their profile. If Bebo becomes the iTunes-integrated social network, it may have a shot at becoming the social network of choice. Still, those Facebook apps are hard to beat.

Personal blog note

Somebody besides me should be reading my sister’s blog. I’m just saying. It’s really good! (I could be biased, but I’m pretty sure I’m right about this). She is journaling her 2 years in Paraguay while she serves in the Peace Corps. Clickthrough just this once.
