New Banner?

Sarah Perez on March 24th, 2007

I’m just not feeling this banner anymore. Who thinks I need a new one? I can’t afford to hire a designer and god knows, I’m a terrible designer. I  guess I could use one of the built-in templates, but that’s so boring! Or I could use my web 2.0 auto-generated logo, right? If anyone has any suggestions on how to get a new banner up there that takes absolutely no design skills, please let me know.

UPDATE: all banner submissions will be put to a vote!

  1. You could ask readers to send in banner ideas. I’m sure there is a designer or two out there reading your blog. One who wants a little exposure.

Or you could just let everyone play with ideas and send them to use. No experience needed. You might find one you like.

  2. Chuck’s idea seems good. I’ve done this before and it works :)

  3. Yeh a change might be good but don’t use the generator… be more personal you can do better with your own ideas

  4. What do you want to say about your blog in the banner?

    I had fun w/ mine http:mediarevolutionary.com

tell me what you are thinking and I will send you some

  5. Sarah, I like your current banner but I understand it can get old looking at the same ‘ol banner all the time. Why not consider changing the banner every month like Dooce. That way you don’t get tired of it, you can do themes, you don’t have to worry about getting a perfect masthead since it will only be around for 30 days… :)

  6. I thinks it time for a change. The blog is great but the banner just never did much for me. The colors seemed unbalanced from the rest of the page.

Think of it as a challenge and lets see what you can do :-)…

  7. I like the idea of changing out banners/themes, too, but I’m limited to the built-in Typepad themes for the most part. I did install some of the themes this weekend from the Style Contest (http://www.thestylecontest.com), & tried them out, but none of them were really me.

  11. Couldn’t resist. I’m more programmer than marketer, but I’ll throw this in there.
