Is anyone NOT talking about Scoble’s departure from Microsoft? Let’s be different and talk about something else. Oops. Too late. Oh well…in other Microsoft news, how about the fact that you can download Vista via BitTorrent now? Vistatorrent is a new site set up where you can get a clean, legal copy of the Vista ISO. According to the site: "Windows enthusiasts Chris and Jake have downloaded the official beta release and created a torrent…This is not a crack, this is not a hack, this is not software piracy - it’s unofficial mirroring with official validation. You can get a Windows Vista Beta 2 product key for free through Microsoft, as the OS won’t install without one."
If only I had the hardware….

Gina Trapani has a detailed tutorial on how to dual-boot Vista with Windows XP. Once the process is complete, you’ll get a choice to boot into XP or Vista.

I’ve been running Vista on my laptop for a few months now … and it’s slow. Unbearably slow. The user interface - progressive as Microsoft is trying to be - is simply too cluttered and confusing. They are trying *so* hard to achieve Apple’s slick look and feel, and they are doing a bang-up job of putting more kludge on the Windows desktop - just when you thought it couldn’t get any kludgier.
And wait until you see Office 2007 … it’s a real piece of work. Who needs one Start button when you can have two?

Of course, in order to install this, I’d have to shrink my Linux partition, with its sexy XGL display to try Microsoft’s attempt at accelerated desktops.
Maybe I can talk my roommate into this.
Even after Vista comes out officially, I think I’ll still wait at least 6 months after that before attempting to make a switch.
Gotta give MS time to get all the patches and service packs out to everyone, lol.
