SixApart To Launch New Service

SixApart will soon be releasing a new service called Vox (formerly "Comet"). Vox will be part blogging platform, part social network. According to TechCrunch: one of the features of Vox will be very easy uploading of images, audio and video, as well as book information (for reviews) from Amazon. Also, privacy settings can be set for each post, as well as descriptive tags.Another feature will be a "friends list", that will display on your weblog. This list will be called the  “neighborhood,” and it will be easy to add friends to your list. Vox will also offer integration with Flickr and YouTube.

This won’t be a blogging platform for those who want the more advanced features available in SixApart’s TypePad platform (like sarahintampa.com). However, with my TypePad plan, I have 3 weblogs. I would love to be able to make 2 of the TypePad blogs and one a Vox blog. Mix-and-match! I wonder if that would even be possible…

  1. Vox reminds me of MySpace ;) I’ll check it out anyway, should be fun!

  2. I was actually considering two blogs, a linkblog and a photoblog.
Maybe the Typepad Pro offer will let me choose a Vox. If so I might re-subscribe to Typepad. I guess it will depend on the customization level offered by Vox.
Wordpress is good but well… Typepad is probly easier. I’m just wondering if we find many plug-ins for typepad-based blogs.
If you get to invite someone remember me :)

  3. By the way, since you’re a typepad member would you mind asking the support team if subscribers will be able to get a Vox place :p
Hope to get you soon in my network :) have a nice weekend

  4. I will keep you posted on this! :)
