Did Yahoo! Buy Technorati?

There was an interesting post on A View from the Isle weblog this weekend, which led me to the original story by David Berlind on ZDNet. He was surfing Technorati and he hit the back button and he got an apology that was, according to him, "clearly generated by Yahoo!’s servers telling me that the page couldn’t be found on Yahoo!’s servers."  Also, the Technorati logo displayed next to text that read "Yahoo! - 404 Not Found" on the title page of the tab. Possibly it’s a browser bug, or, as Michael Arrington had pondered back in January, Technorati is now another Yahoo! acquistion.

Coming Soon: A New Yahoo! Video

Sarah Perez on May 21st, 2006

Yahoo_video
Yahoo! is working on a new video site to replace the current Yahoo! Video site. Right now, Yahoo! Video is just a video search engine, but the new site will be more like YouTube. The site will offer tagging, rating, user submissions and favorites, just like YouTube. You can see a screenshot of the new Yahoo! Video at the GigaOM weblog. To me, it seems odd that Yahoo! would build a site from scratch, as opposed to buying the YouTube site, especially considering all their other recent acquisitions as of late. Perhaps YouTube is just not for sale?

Google Reader Goes Mobile

Google Reader is now available from your mobile phone. To get to Google Reader from your mobile phone, just go to google.com/reader/m. You can also add the Google Reader Homepage module to your Google homepage, which will show up on your mobile Personalized Homepage (just click "sign in" from Google.com). Now if I could just figure out why subscriptions I unsubscribed from are still showing in my reading list, I’d be all set.
