Argh! What’s going on with Firefox lately? Is it just me? Since the last automatic update, Firefox has been hogging my CPU usage, rendering the browser practically unusable. I haven’t added any new extensions, so it must be the update, right? Anyone else having issues? Ideas? Don’t make me go back to IE!!

My computers are running the latest Firefox just fine. Bummer.
I’m having the problem on my laptop, but not on my work computer.
My Firefox has crashed several times since the last update
I have the following extensions installed: SessionSaver, del.icio.us, SearchPluginHacks and VideoDownloader.
Are you using any of these plugins too?
Out of that list, only del.icio.us
firefox has been working fine for me, although on some computers at work I have noticed it is a bit of a pig… but nothing major
Don’t go back to IE! At least try Opera first!
my firefox crashes once a day or something like that. it’s kind of ridiculous but i still love firefox. it’s way more functional that IE. i still wish the extensions hog lesser memory because my firefox uses upto 512 MB RAM something which I find rather obnoxious..
I just upgraded and my machine stopped working. OK I did drop the lap top.
But I have noticed some processes run wild slowing the machine down before I dropped it. Sucked.
I have the same problem as you. I think that the main problem is the amount of datas exchange. My Firefox crashed with Netvibes, yousendit and thebox.net and it works with websites such as yahoo news or nytimes.com.
I use Maxthon instead and hoping that one day a new service pack will be issued.
A while back, I installed an extention that screwed up Firefox. I uninstalled the extention, even reinstalled Firefox and it was still screwed up. I had to uninstall Firefox AND delete the Firefox profiles folder (in Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles) to fix the problem.
If reinstalling Firefox doesn’t fix your problem then I would recommend deleting the Profiles folder. Keep in mind that you’ll lose all your extentions and settings, so only do this if nothing else works.

Yeah i have started usng opera…not going back to IE.
Why not try Maxthon? uses IE engine but a lot better! I never did like firefox, always opening new windows for me..argh!
