A Call For Help: Firefox is Really My Default Browser Now
OK, I want to know — did Firefox recently update itself on the sly? Did they put out an update in order to break IE installations everywhere? Seriously, I just noticed that when I type in an address in the address bar of IE, my page opens in Firefox. I discovered this interesting new feature this morning, but thought it was just a fluke - just a weird thing happening on my main computer. However, this evening I discovered the exact same thing is happening on my laptop, too. What are the odds?! What the heck is going on? I know this is a new bug, since I still use IE from time to time.
Comments, suggestions, anyone?

Hi Sarah, I’ve heard your cry of distress and I can’t seem to find my big white horse to jump onto. Oh well ..
I put in a call to Firefox forum to see what they come up with. Log in and answer any questions if you want to.

Have fun Sarah,

Wow! They responded pretty fast. No solutions yet. It seems to be an IE update problem.
You are not the only one this is happening to.

I’ll keep looking for an answer.
Ackk! I didn’t read far enough down in that last thread I posted. A couple of answers are there if you’re brave enough to try them.
Good luck!
An IE patch caused this? Oh, that is rich! Thanks for your help!
Oh, following a link it says this could be something to do with installing the IE7 beta, which I did on both computers…interesting!
And so, the fix is to delete this entire key from the registry of the affected machine: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-a5c5bc1c2ae6}.
So, I did that and dumped the IE7 beta and problem solved! I didn’t need that stupid beta anyway…
Ha! Here comes the horse. I guess he’s hungry. Happy to help out.
No idea. All I know is the Deer Park Alpha 2 prerelease on my (broken) notebook was more reliable than the official Firefox 1.5 release on the computer I have to use now. And I do my IE-ing with the IE Tab extension, so I don’t fire up IE from the command line anymore.
