Gmail Gets a Delete Button

Sarah Perez on January 20th, 2006

Gmail_13I woke up this morning to an unexpected surprise - there is now a "delete" button for my Gmail. Yes! A delete button! This has been the one feature that has been hard to live without, and now I don’t have to. I think Gmail may now be perfect.

  1. Yeah. They’ve had it for a couple weeks.

Seems like something they would have thought of a while ago.

My guess: People were queasy about not being able to permanently delete their e-mails.

  2. Weeks?! According to the blogosphere, most people just got theirs yesterday or today.

  3. There’s been a delete feature for a while now. Just took an extra step to put in the Trash folder, then delete. All they really did was remove that one step.

  4. Right, it was in a drop-down menu — now it’s an actual button. This is new and quite the improvement!

  5. The Delete button is quite an improvement. If only the trash would really go away after 30 days….

  6. Gosh, its about time!

  7. Gmail will not be perfect until it gets a ‘Mark as Read’/'Mark as Unread’ button.

Yes, I know this can be achieved using Firefox & Greasemonkey, but still..
