Juicy BlogMad News

BlogExplosion has been great, and they have a lot of features that I enjoy, especially the handy "ping my blog" feature. When I have time, I enjoy surfing and discovering new blogs using BE. However, they’ve been the top blog community site for some time now. Say what you want about BlogAdvance, Blogclicker, Blogazoo, etc., BE beats them all hands down in my book.

So, when BlogMad announced their plans to launch a new blog community site, I was interested. Why? This site promises to offer REAL competition to BlogExplosion. And when companies compete, we win. And what’s the juicy gossip, you ask? Well, apparently some BE users have felt for some time now that the battle of the blogs feature is unfair. So, when BlogMad hinted that they will offer something different and better (ie. FAIR), BE was worried. Apparently, Blogexplosion has sent notification to the BlogMad guys demanding that they not to copy their ideas, although word is that the BlogMad guys don’t plan on "copying" the battle of the blogs concept…so it makes it seem all the more intriguing.

And if BlogExplosion is already clearly worried, then this BlogMad thing MUST be good!

Still a few weeks from launch, but you can sign up now.

  1. I went to the Blogmad website and it doesn’t give any information. They just want you to blindly sign up.

  2. Well, my inside info says it’s going to be good. And, really, what can it hurt? By signing up early, you get extra credits, which means free traffic to your blog. If you don’t like BlogMad when they launch, then you never have to visit them again.

  3. Just recently signed up with BlogExplosion, and, in fact, did my first “ping” a few minutes ago. Waitin’ for that “rush” of visitors . . . will keep you posted.

  4. Signed up bout 10 days ago and can’t wait to see what it’s gonna be about !!

  5. I am keen to see what the fuss is all about.

what features are they gonna have? any idea?

  6. Sarah: Where did you get this info?

  7. They have a blog at http://www.vault9.net/blog

  8. LOL - But can’t find anything there. /me thinks sarahintampa has inside info

  9. Interesting blog:-) Clearly Blog Explosion is better!

    Carefree Mall

  10. Hmmm… Seems Sarah does indeed have inside info :)
I wonder who she has been talking to? :D
I am involved with this project as well and Sarah is on the money with a few of the things she has mentioned.

A lot of people have been hammering us for more info and we just ask that people be patient.

Yes, we did get a seemingly very attacking correspondence from BlogExplosion with legal threats however we havent done anything wrong…. yet ;-)

  11. Jim - You have to surf members blogs to get credits so that people will surf your blog!

    Brian - FAIR battles!

  12. For the record, I think BE has done a great job with bringing a service to the table that really didn’t exist before and has done, overall, a good job. I am not affiliated with BlogMad. But would I like to see some competition? Sure I would! It doesn’t mean that I can’t use both companies! It’s just good for me to be able to have alternatives.

I don’t think the “spamming” thing was BM’s fault. They had a website where you could fill out a form to recommend it to people to sign up, after you had signed up. I know a GAZILLION websites that offer the same feature. C’mon. Some people obviously abused the system and BlogMad promptly removed this feature. The spamming was not done by the company itself.

And lastly, I don’t know if this last comment was really posted by someone affiliated with BE or not, but my god! It sounds like a scare tactic!

  13. Ahhhh this all brings back memories of when BlogAdvance first started.

I’m glad it’s someone else’s turn to be “paranoid” and the “trouble makers” now.

What a great day this has turned out to be.

  14. Jeff,
Why is it everytime I see someone talking about a new traffic exchange, I always find BE posting some kind of crap like this? People are going to use ideas from other places, always have, and always will. Ideas that I have had have been reproduced for years, I find it to be a compliment. I don’t care if you have been running an exchange for 5 years or 10 years. It doesn’t mean you are a godly expert with running one. BE is a very flawed system IMO, I am not going to go into why I feel this way, so don’t ask.

BM has just began, and of course everything isn’t done yet, including privacy policies… And you know what, you posted on my site with your email address, who is to say that I won’t sell your address to spammers? Or even your IP to hackers? I have no policy posted saying I won’t do it. My site has been running continuously for almost 8 years now, and I have yet to have a policy saying that I won’t spam you. But guess what, in those 8 years I have not, and in total I have had well over 5,000 different people comment and give me their emails.

I also see you keep talking about protecting your investments… But I see no trademarks on any of the names you have there… If you truley wanted to protect your “investments” you would have trademarked every name you came up with. Also, is it just me or can you NOT protect names or ideas under copyright? It may just be me… OH WAIT!

“Copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans, or short phrases. In some cases, these things may be protected as trademarks.”

“Copyright does not protect ideas, concepts, systems, or methods of doing something.”

    Here, read it for yourself:
    http://www.copyright.gov/help/.....html#title
And before you say “We are based in Canada”, Canada will recognize US copyright laws in a court of law… I know this because I pressed charges on a Canadian 2 years ago for copyright infringement, and my legal team won.

Anyways, good luck to BM, once you are up and running, count me in. And sorry Sarah if I was rude in anyway towards you.

  15. As far as I can tell, they are based in South Africa.

    Good luck Suing them :-)

  16. Where in that comment did I say anything about suing them? Please read before responding to comments, it doesn’t make you look so dumb.

  17. i was referring to blogex suing blogmad

  18. Ah, ok. My bad. =)

  19. Jeff, a blogmark isn’t exclusively yours nor is BoTB. If you see my blog’s take on this you’ll see why.

  20. It’s always the same folks jumping on the anti-BE bandwagon. Cracks my shit up.
They don’t even read a blog but for one post and run mouths. :)

  21. Ahh, but what Rachel failed to notice is that ol’ Jeffy popped his nose in here long before the “anti-BE bandwagon” rolled into town. Oh, I’m sorry; I meant Ms. Chatty. ;) And what are you doing here exactly?

Jeff, keep doing what you’re doing; all the other blog traffic services appreciate you and your staff forcing people to use other sites. I don’t blame you for getting scared, seeing how BotB is the only thing keeping your members there. The second all your precious little mommy blogs find a better way to battle, do you really think they’re gonna stick around to kiss Ms. Chatty’s…err… I mean Rachel’s ass anymore? Nope. Are they going to buy credits from your service anymore? Nope. I hope (well, actually, I don’t) your others services are looking promising, cause it seems that blog traffic just wasn’t meant for you…

After all the garbage you spewed at Dr. Fil’s, I had hoped that you would have learned to keep your mouth shut. Every time you flap your gums, you lose members.

And thank you Sarah, for not being intimidated by Jeff and his crones, and posting what you feel.
