Bill Gates just announced that Microsoft will release a new version of the Internet Explorer browser. The new browser will be ready this summer for preliminary testing and will include features such as new protections against viruses, spyware and phishing scams. However, Gates did not mention them adding any non-security related features like tabbed browsing. The new browser, dubbed IE version 7, will only be available to PCs running a legitimate copy of Windows XP SP2. This announcement comes on the heels of a new study that states that 5% of web surfers today use the Firefox browser instead of IE. (Go Firefox!)
