The Best Universal Messaging Program

TrillianHave I mentioned how much I love the new Trillian instant messenger? They upgraded the free version a while back, and I’m really enjoying it.

If you don’t know what Trillian is, it’s time to find out! It’s a universal instant messenger that allows you to connect to AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC networks. Its features include audio chat, file transfers, group chats, chat rooms, buddy icons, multiple simultaneous connections to the same network, server-side contact importing, typing notification, plus unique features like contact message history, skinning, tabbed messaging, global status changes (set all
networks away at once), Instant Lookup (automatic Wikipedia
integration), contact alerts, docking, emoticons/emotisounds, shell extensions for file transfers, and
systray notifications. Whew! That’s a lot of features!

One of the things I really like in the new version is the ability to set the transparency of the client. I like to set it to almost completely transparent so I can see it, but it doesn’t get in the way of my work. And the best part of this messenger is that it’s FREE! You know I love anything free! (For the record, with the Pro version, you can do
video messenging, but ehh…I’ll just take the free version).

  3. Trillian pro has come a long way. I’m glad they FINALLY implemented mic & webcam.

Miranda is an awesome free comparison, but I like the bloat of trillian pro :-D
