McDonald’s Sued

July 9th, 2004  |  Published in Current Affairs  |  3 Comments

friesMcDonald’s is being sued, again. This time it’s for not reducing the fat in their french fries as they had said they would.  I don’t even understand why lawsuits like this are legal. If you eat fries, you get fat. It’s nobody’s fault but your own. If you spill hot coffee on your lap, it’s your fault.  This country is way too litigious!

This is just ridiculous. I love McD fries. Fries could kill you if you make them at home too…

You mean to tell me that if I eat french fries, I’ll get fat? That’s crazy talk!

i agree that the french fries lawsuit is stupid, but i wanted to do my part to clear up some confusion about the coffee lawsuit. i worked with a personal injury lawyer, and nothing pissed him off more than when people used this an example of a frivilous lawsuit.

the coffee was served more than 20 degrees hotter than it should have been, and the woman recieved third degree burns that required skin grafts on her thighs, groin, and butt…. ouch, think about that for a minute. here’s a link:
